laparoscopic lens contamination

"Wipe the mirror". In addition to the fogging of the lens, another important reason for wiping the mirror is the contamination of the lens during the operation.

(1) Ultrasonic knife and other energy instruments are operated in a narrow space, or the lens is too close to the operation area, especially when liquid or tissue debris splashes when operating on edema, bleeding or fatty tissue. The common response method is to adjust the distance between the lens and the surgical operation area according to actual needs. For example, the lens should be appropriately close to the operation area when energy instruments such as ultrasonic scalpel are separated or clamped. The front lens should be retracted moderately, and then gently approach the operating area after the cutting or solidification is over, repeat this way to minimize the probability of contamination;

(2) Due to the pressure difference between the abdominal cavity and the outside of the Trocar, the high air pressure in the abdominal cavity can take the droplets and tissue fragments in the Trocar out of the Trocar and spray them onto the lens surface to cause lens contamination. At the same time, contamination of the Trocar anti-leak valve can easily lead to lens contamination, so pay attention when entering the mirror. If there is liquid in the Trocar, you can bypass the contamination by rotating the lens, or use gauze/gauze to clean the Trocar to prevent contamination.

The task of the hand mirror is to provide the surgeon with a clear and stable operation image. And with the change of the operation process, provide a proper field of view of the near and far range and angle. In other words, the mirror-holding hand acts as the "eyes" of the surgeon. This requires the hand mirror to be familiar with the procedures of the operation and the surgical habits of the surgeon, and to maintain sufficient tacit understanding with the surgeon.
