What is a surgical stapler?

The stapler is the first stapler in the world and has been used for gastrointestinal anastomosis for nearly a century. It was not until 1978 that the tubular stapler was widely used in gastrointestinal surgery. It is a device used in medicine to replace traditional hand suture. Due to the development of modern technology and the improvement of production technology, The stapler currently used in clinical practice is of reliable quality, convenient to use, tight, and suitable for tightness, especially its advantages such as fast suture, easy operation and few side effects and surgical complications. It also enables the removal of unresectable tumors in the past, which is very popular and praised by clinical surgeons at home and abroad.

Unlike traditional surgical techniques including cutting, separation, ligation, hemostasis, and suture, which ultimately achieve the removal of organ lesions and the reconstruction of organs, Mechanical suturing can achieve the excision and reconstruction of diseased organs through three basic operations, namely separation, suturing, and anastomosis, thus replacing traditional surgical techniques. The application of mechanical suture technology is a huge leap in surgical operation. It greatly shortens the operation time, simplifies the operation, and reduces the chance of intraoperative tissue damage and bleeding and surgical infection, speeds up the recovery of tissue and organ functions, thereby shortening the hospital stay and reducing the suffering of patients.

At present, the stapler has been widely used in partial resection and anastomosis in hepatobiliary surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, splenic and pancreatic surgery, gynecology, pediatric surgery, thoracic surgery and other operations.
